When observing butterflies fluttering in your succulent garden, it may be time to consider medicinal options.

With the onset of summer, temperatures are rising and it is also the breeding season for butterflies.

Larvae of Small White butterflies and Tongeia hainani have been observed to feed on succulent plants, with a particular preference for the latter species.

The following two pictures are Small White butterflies and Tongeia hainani butterflies:

The active temperature range of Tongeia hainani butterflies is usually between 15°C and 30°C. When the temperature is too high or too low, their activity will be weakened. There can be multiple generations in spring and summer. The lifespan of adult butterflies is usually 1-2 weeks About. Adults will lay eggs on multiple leaves of the plant, usually about 20-30 eggs, and it takes about 7-10 days for the eggs of Tongeia hainani butterflies to hatch and become larvae.

Larvae feed on cruciferous plants, such as cabbage, rapeseed, etc. Eating succulents may be careless for Small White butterflies, but it may be intentional for Tongeia hainani butterflies (probably because the competition for delicious food is fierce , some of them chose succulents as a substitute; it may also be addicted to eating succulents, and they will eat them next time).

In short, when the eggs are just hatched into larvae, they are the best to kill. The smaller the size, the weaker the resistance to poison. As long as the succulent has some poison on it, it will die if eaten.

Therefore, if you see small butterflies flying, you can consider spraying the medicine after a few days. The medicine that kills scale insects is very effective, and the larvae die after eating. Generally, the validity period is about one month.
